Child Therapy

At Wolff Child Psychology, we understand the challenges families face when a child is experiencing difficulties. Our child and family therapy services are designed to provide thoughtful and effective solutions that support the entire family. We offer a range of therapy options, including:

  • Individual therapy for children and teens
  • Parent counseling
  • Family therapy

Our goal is to help families build the confidence and skills needed to address each child’s challenges effectively, ultimately strengthening family bonds and improving overall well-being.

How Child Therapy Works

Every family’s needs are different, and we collaborate with you to identify the right combination of child and family therapy supports.

  1. We begin with an initial parent-only session (in-person or telehealth), during which parents can meet the therapist, ask questions, and discuss their hopes and goals for their child. The therapist will take the time to get to know the parents, consider the child’s needs and initial treatment goals, and make sure parents are fully informed about their professional training and areas of expertise.
  2. The therapist and parents will then together create a plan of action, including establishing initial treatment goals, the frequency of sessions, and the format of sessions, which can include individual therapy with the child, parent counseling, and/or family therapy.
  3. If your child comes in for sessions, the therapist will make sure, first and foremost, to focus on your child’s comfort, by connecting with them on their interests, providing opportunities to share in their perspectives and goals, and being open to answering all their questions. Keep in mind, our therapists will be working with you and your child on making meaningful changes to improve their quality of life, and, as we all know, change can be uncomfortable.

We will always be transparent about our efforts, seek to work collaboratively with you on the pacing and focus of therapy, and be open and responsive to your feedback. Above and beyond any specific treatment plans and clinical approaches, establishing a collaborative and trusting relationship with you and your child is foundational to quality and meaningful care.
