Wolff Child Psychology provides psychologically informed executive functioning coaching to support the social-emotional/behavioral functioning of children from birth through the teenage years. |
Executive functioning skills are the cornerstone of adaptive daily functioning, beyond their impact on academic performance. Healthy personal, family, and social functioning requires children and teens to use helpful behavioral and emotional regulation strategies in order to make effective choices at home, school, and in the community. Students with EF challenges struggle with the problem-solving process, including difficulties with the basic behavioral, emotional, and cognitive regulation skills needed to handle typical day-to-day choices and stressors.

Our psychologically informed coaching aims to support children and teens, and their parents, by teaching and practicing effective EF strategies. Coaching can be especially helpful for youth with significant social-emotional, attentional, and behavioral struggles, which can be part of clinical diagnoses such as ADHD, ASD, depression, and anxiety.
At Wolff Child Psychology, our coaches work in homes, schools, at our office, and virtually with parents, children, and teenagers to craft individualized, attainable goals, and to provide concrete supports toward successfully achieving those goals. For some children, this can include a heavier parent and teacher component to help integrate home- or school-based strategies such as visual schedules, emotion regulation activities, and sensory breaks. For others, EF coaching may focus more on individual sessions with the child/teen to support anxiety and emotional coping strategies.

Wolff Child Psychology’s psychologically informed coaching incorporates time above and beyond sessions with your child. Coaches meet regularly with our licensed clinical psychologists about their clients, facilitating a multi-disciplinary approach to coaching sessions. Our coaches collaborate with our psychologists on integrating recommendations from private and public school evaluation reports, including embedding 504/IEP accommodations and intervention goals into sessions. Our social-emotional/behavioral EF services are intended to yield concrete, observable benefits to your child and family within a reasonable amount of time.
